This Thanksgiving season we are reminded to slow down a bit and give thanks. Obviously our expression of thanks is directed to God since He is the Giver of all good things. I truly hope that each of you is thankful every day for the daily blessings that God continually gives.
Many times we express thanks for family, friends and food. While these are three things that we can be very thankful for, I decided to make a list of some of the other things that I am thankful that God has allowed me to have not only this Thanksgiving season but throughout all of the year.
As you read my list, I am sure that you will find that you are thankful for some of the same things. Just imagine for a moment, how different life would be without some of these things.
I am thankful for all of my pets; each one brings such joy to my heart, and I then I have the food to feed them. Many times scooping up dry cat food, I thank God for providing it for my little ones. I am thankful also for canned pet food and the convenience that it is.
I am thankful for electricity, and the money to pay that bill. This includes my Internet, the lights in my office, the TV, the refrigerator, freezer and more.
The yard in back of my house is small but I am so thankful that I have some grass and there is a beautiful rose bush.
My house is always comfortable no matter what is the weather outside. I am so thankful for heat in the winter and coolness in the summer. Then I have windows that let the sunlight in, but keep the cold out, and I can open them for fresh air. I have curtains on my windows both for beauty and privacy and I am so glad for them.
There is carpet on my floors or smooth vinyl flooring. I don’t have to worry about splinters because very often I am in my bare feet.
There are dishes in my cupboard and pots and pans to cook with in my cabinets. I have a can opener for my canned food. The oven and stove work very well and although cooking is not one of my favorite pastimes I am so thankful I have what I need in order to cook and bake for my family.
In my closet, I have clothes for every occasion, from comfy pajamas to church dresses, comfortable jeans and old sneakers, and the necessary socks, bras and underwear. And to accessorize, I have my choice of jewelry, several perfumes and different lipsticks.
As you can see, I can go on and on with the simple things of life that I am truly thankful that God has allowed me to have and enjoy. This is certainly not an exhaustive list. Many times I take these things for granted. Yet when I stop to consider how my life would be without even one of these things, I am very grateful that I am blessed with such simple but wonderful things.
Please leave a comment below as to what specific things you are thankful for.
