Many times in my blog and books I talk about salvation and/or being saved. This is not a physical salvation, but rather, a spiritual salvation. I am referring to getting saved from hell and making sure that you know for sure that you are on your way to heaven. In the simplest terms, if you are willing to repent, believe, and receive Jesus Christ as your savior, you can be saved.
Many people have said a prayer, been baptized, and joined churches without knowing what it means to be saved. Salvation isn’t in a prayer, but in a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. God wants people to know they are saved― not guess, hope or feel.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:11-13)
Here is what the Bible says about going to heaven:
God orders everyone to repent.
Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 20:21)
Repentance is being sorry for your sin and having a desire to change. Repentance is necessary to receive salvation (deliverance) from hell and to go to heaven.
And the times of this ignorance God winked at (over looked); but now commandeth (commands) all men every where to repent. (Acts 17:30)
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)
Believe the Holy Bible when it says that you are a sinner.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23a)
This death is both physical and spiritual ― going to hell.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)
Believe that you need to obey the Gospel.
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Thessalonians 1:8)
The Gospel is that Jesus Christ is the sinless Son of God who died on the cross to pay for your sins. He was buried, and three days later He bodily arose from the dead.
But God commendeth (shows) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10:9)
Believe that God loves you and doesn’t want you― or anyone else― to go to hell.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
Eternal life in heaven is a total free gift. IT IS NOT a payment or a reward for doing good deeds.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
For by grace are ye saved (from hell) through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
You may receive Christ as your savior by confessing your need to be saved by Him as the only way to be saved from hell.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12)
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10)
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
The penalty for not believing, repenting, and receiving Christ and His Gospel, is to perish in hell for eternity.
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3)
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Thessalonians 1:18)
If you understand and believe these things from the Bible you can pray this prayer from your heart and God, who promised to save your soul from hell, will.
Dear God in heaven,
I know I’m a sinner.
I believe that I deserve to go to hell for my sin.
I believe that the Lord Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sin.
I believe that Christ arose from the dead and is alive in heaven today.
Dear Jesus, please come into my heart and save me from hell.
Please let me know in my heart that I’m saved.
Dear God, thank you for saving my soul.
I humbly ask this in Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
If you have sincerely prayed this prayer you are now a child of God and Jesus is your savior. Now it is time to let others know. Tell your pastor, your family, or even me!
